The US Department of Homeland Security is changing their color-coded terror warnings. Starting April 27th, there will be only two levels and the warnings will be delivered to you via Facebook and Twitter.
Instead of the original five threat levels that were created as part of the Homeland Security Advisory System in 2001, now there are just two levels – “Elevated” and “Imminent”. If the government determines that issuing a risk would expose US spies or their operation, there will be no warning issued.
The threat warnings will be issued “under certain circumstances for limited periods of time” and will be available on Facebook and Twitter “when appropriate” after federal, state and local officials have been notified.
Will this new notification system be a good way to notify US people quickly, or will it cause unnecessary fear?
