Earlier this year, LinkedIn acquired CardMunch, an iPhone app that lets you take a picture of a business card and have it added to your iPhone contacts. This week, LinkedIn relaunched the iPhone app with a new mobile experience for users on LinkedIn, providing access to deeper and richer information about the person behind the card. LinkedIn redesigned the CardMunch app with a sleeker interface making it easy to use and the camera experience was improved to capture cards faster than ever. There are three simple screens to choose from on the app - card capture, contact list, and contact details and LinkedIn profiles.
Once the app scans the card, CardMunch maps that information with the contact's LinkedIn profile, along with photos of the contact, common connections, past work experience, education and more.
LinkedIn has made this iPhone app free for users. With the social networking company launching new iPhone, Andriod and mobile (HTML5) web apps recently, mobile page views have grown 400% year-over-year.
Will you use the CardMunch app? So many business cards are exchanged and lost or thrown away everyday. We think digitizing business cards is a great answer to the pile sitting in the bottom of our desk drawers.
