Facebook is a place where hundreds of millions of people share their thoughts on big moments, talk about favorite TV shows, cheer on a sports team, and engage with friends during a breaking news event. Until now, there has not been a simple way to see the larger view of what's happening or what people are talking about. To bring these conversations to the forefront, Facebook is rolling out a series of features that surface some of the interesting discussions people are having, by introducing Facebook hashtags. Starting today, hashtags will be clickable on Facebook. Similar to Twitter, Facebook hashtags will allow you to add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion. According to a new post from Facebook, when you click on a hashtag on Facebook, you'll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that topic.
Now you can:
- Search for a specific hashtag from your search bar
- Click on hashtags that originate on other services
- Compose posts directly from the hashtag feed and search results
Are you excited to see Facebook hashtags?
